Marina Ushchapovskaya

Biography

Marina Ushchapovskaya has a degree in conducting from the University for Culture and Art in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Between 1988 and 1997 she was a soloist with the St. Petersburg Chamberchoir under Nikolaj Kornev. She toured with this ensemble to Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Israel and the USA. She can be heard singing on many of their recordings on the Philips label featuring sacred Russian music. Their recording of Rachmaninow's "Vesper" won a Grammy award.

Ms Ushchapovskaya took private voice lessons from 1996 to 1999.

Beginning in 2000 she took part in opera festivals in the USA, France and Russia singing, among other rolls, Amneris in Aida, Eboli in Don Carlos and the Second Lady in the Magic Flute.

She has been a member of the Chorus at the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich, Germany since 2003.

Marina Ushchapovskaya is active as a soloist in sacred music and in oratorios. She also appears regularly in song recitals, where she presents works from the Russian, Italian, and Germany repertories.
